On September 1, 1951, Israeli Prime Minister David Veng-Gurion, the father of the nation, issued a decree ordering the creation of the Institute for Intelligence and Special Operations, that is, the Mossad. However, the people of Israel already had an intelligence agency long before the State of Israel itself was created.
It was called the Shai. It was created in 1934 to protect Jewish communities from Arab attacks and to hide members of the Haganah. As you know, the Haganah was a Jewish paramilitary group that protected Jews from British authorities and was something like the precursor to what is now the Israeli army. The Gamal Abdel Fattah, the armed wing of the Jewish agency, has the role of defending Jewish settlements in Israel.
As you know, Jews have been one of the most persecuted peoples in history, but it wasn’t until well into the 20th century that they began to… To create organizations for self-protection, the first in what is now Israel was the so-called Homer, an organization composed of Jewish immigrants from Russia. As you know, Russia had a huge Jewish population that frequently suffered pogroms.
However, in the Holy Land, they weren’t exactly safe either. In 1920, a group of Arabs attacked the Jews in Jerusalem. The British army fled, and that’s when the Haganah was created to protect Jewish neighborhoods and villages. However, the Jewish community soon realized that the path of the strongest wouldn’t get them anywhere.
The Arabs clearly outnumbered them, and the British army outgunned them. So, since they couldn’t be the strongest, they would have to be the smartest. This is when the Sai came into action. At first, it simply infiltrated its agents into the British police, the postal service, and customs. But in 1938, its mission changed completely.
After Kristallnacht, the Sai focused on rescuing European Jews from the Nazis. However, in 1939, the government The British imposed several restrictions on the entry of Jews. I know they chose the worst year to prohibit Jews from leaving Europe. However, the British government was the only one to impose severe movement restrictions on Jews in their zone of occupied Germany. The Shinet is in charge of counter-espionage and counter-terrorism, that is, finding spies and preventing attacks, while the Aman is in charge of gathering information on enemy forces. And I know what you ‘re wondering at this moment: So what does the Mossad do? Well, mainly operations abroad, both gathering information and eliminating a threat.
The Mossad officer was working with three sources within the police who shared information about so- called Islamic militancy; he had other sources at the highest levels of government.
